Deborah, Ellender Thacker, b. ca 1793, was among the first organized group of settlers that came to the Hardin County area before it was a county in 1816 She came with her two children, William and Shepperd. She was a Brazelton whose husband had died before 1816. B. G. Brazelton wrote in 1885, "A History of Hardin County," in which he states that Shepperd was the youngest child of Ellender and 10 years old in 1816. The census information would indicate that he was only 1 or 2 years old at that time. She did not have any daughters that I know of. The gravestone of Sheppard Thacker shows: 10/06/1814- 01/22/1899 I don't know what happened to the brother of Sheppard? I am also posting this message to the list. Perhaps there is an answer there? The tombstones in question were erected many years after the death of Hiram (correct given name) and Sarah. I don't know who had them erected, but it is obvious when one looks at them that they are - in genealogical terms - fairly new. Also, the dates engraved on the stones are incorrect. These people are in my direct line, and I have done much research on them, so I know the dates that are on the tombstones are not correct. The data on the Cemetery Census, however, does reflect the dates as found on the tombstone. Hope this helps to answer any questions. Ann Lee Bussey, Checking the "1880 Hardin County Cemetery Census," it is exactly as Bill has copied it. However, in the comments section of the Cemetery Census, there is a note that Haran's gravestone reads: Haran Haynes, husband of Sarah. Her stone reads: Sarah Haynes, wife of Haran. This leaves no doubt about their identity. I have not seen the grave stones but suspect they are very hard to read. A 5 an 8 and a 3 can easily be confused. I have no doubt that they both read 1855 if that is how they should read. Bill there was no e-mail address for this lady. David ========== Bill Bill Darnell wrote: > Thank you for your compliment. Hello Robyn: I'm sorry, I don't have a scanner, so I can't make you copies of the the pages from the two books I mentioned. But perhaps someone in Hardin Co. TN has those books and can get copies made of the pages about Elisha B. HARBOUR. I'll try to get copies made and snail mail them to you. Robyn, do you have information on the children of Elisha B. HARBOUR & Martha Frances PITTS? Tom In a message dated 3/27/99 17:38:24, ENGINEER92 writes: << Yes!!! That is him. That is interesting, because the slave ancestors I had with the surname HARBOUR seemed to live near many slaves with the surname PITTS so I know there is a connection. I don't know anything else about the Pitts however. I seem to remember getting an email a while back with some PITTS references I will see if I can find it. Is there good historical info on EB HARBOUR in the book you mentioned? If you could either send it to me as an attachment if you have a scanner or mail it to me I would be most apprec- iative. The more info I have on him, the closer I get to tracing my own ancestors. My address is Robyn Smith, 6749 Old Waterloo Rd. #207 Elkridge, MD 21075 Thanks so much for responding to my query. Hello Everyone, I have a list of all the regiments of colored troops from Tennessee in the Civil War. What I'm trying to find out is which ones my ancestors may have joined from Hardin County. I have not looked in Dyer's Compendium yet, but does anyone have a resource to find out which regiments were formed in Hardin or nearest Hardin? This information would be most helpful to my research. He was married to Rebecca Satterfield, 1793 SC, died in 1860 in Craighead AR. They were probably married in Maury Co., TN where most of their children were born. Noah and family moved to Hardin Co., TN in the mid 1820s and settled on a farm located on the waters of Indian Creek between Cross Roads and Mountain View. Noah is buried on the old family farm. See Map. The following material was prepared by Roberta Duke McCasland and her siblings in 1979 and is being printed here by their permission. David Cagle, 1998 WADE FAMILY NOAH WADE, was the father of William. M. Wade. Our records on Noah are not complete. The following Wade's mentioned are descendants of Noah Wade through Wm. M. Wade, Noah's son, which is 8 generations. We only have whirl-pool information & data on Noah. These are some comments handed down by those mentioned & retained by us; SARAH E. WADE (DUKE), grand-daughter of Wm. Wade, said "her great-grandmother, Noah Wade's wife, was a Miss Satterfield before marrying Noah Wade." This is recorded in Mormon Library in Utah by a Mrs. Hughes, information given her by Sarah E. Wade Duke. HOWARD WADE, grand-son of William Alexander (Gandy) Wade, great-grandson of Wm. & Jane Wade, has records from his grandfather that "Noah Wade is father of Gandy's father Wm." Some of Wm's brothers & sisters were Hampton, William & Jasper, girls Lavina (who married a Layden) Caroline & Ellen. WILLIE BOROUGHS CHANNELL, granddaughter of Wm. Wade & daughter of Rebecca Wade Boroughs remembers her uncle Jasper (a brother to Wm. Wade) coming to his demise in Jonesboro Arkansas where he had lived - also his nephew Polk McDonald (Pony) Wade (son of Noah Hampton Wade) visited uncle Jasper while he lived in Jonesboro. Rumors were "he owned much land & property in Jonesboro." (There could be some Wade history lurking around in Jonesboro, Arkansas). NOAH HAMPTON WADE, son of Wm. Wade, left the information "that Noah Wade, his grandfather, died and is buried in Hardin Co. TN near Burfield Ridge Road going into Brooks bottom" the grave is built up with limestone rock. Some portion in that small area is considered "the old Wade place." "Family graveyards" were their burial grounds in those early days. Should you be interested in finding the burial place of Noah & his old home site, Ben Duke, Bill Love, Leonard Love or Mel McCasland could probably direct you there. We have some data on a Noah Wade from a Mrs. Melba Hutchinson, 2021 Yosemite Dr. Lodi California 95240, she is a descendant of David Hampton Wade, son of Noah Wade. Her records show: Noah Wade born 1780-1790 died between 1840- 1850 in Hardin Co. buried on home place in Hardin Co. TN. This Noah Wade married Rebecca Twyne born 1793 died 1860 in Craighead, Arkansas with her son Noah J. Wade. Children listed to Noah & Rebecca were: H. B. WADE, born 1813 in Maury Co. Tennessee DAVID HAMPTON, born 1810 in Maury Co. TN married Permelia Moseley NYMPHIA WADE, born April 18, 1818 in Maury Co. TN married John Hewlett McConnell WM. M.
