    2. Can anyone tell me if the Courthouse in Hardin County has any early estate records and are you allowed to look at them? Also any help on James C McLin and family will be appreciated. James C McLin was in Lincoln Co., TN in 1830; Wayne County 1840 and Hardin Co. in 1850. He may have been a Presbyterian preacher. I can't find him after 1850. In a book on Hardin Co., I found he owned 195 acres of land on the East TN River. Wheh I looked through a micro-film of deed index, I could not find his name. How can you own land and not buy or sell it? Thanks, Sue Davis

Hopefully, one of you good list members might have information to share on this problem. Frank Martin

    3. Of special interest to researchers of Hardin County History and Genealogy: Hardin County, TN historian and author, Tony Hays, is now taking orders for his new work, "The First Hundred Years: Hardin County, Tennessee Records, 1818 - 1918." ============================================== 10% of all purchases will go to the Hardin County Historical Society. ============================================== The following records will be abstracted into it. 1830 HC census 1833 Special census 1840 HC census 1862 Civil War Direct Tax List Tenn. (many of the records abstracted in the database come from sources either previously not known to exist or not otherwise available -- i.e. the circuit judge docket and the Methodist circuit minutes among others.) Send your order directly to Tony at: Tony Hays 2121 Davis Dr. Apt. C. Savannah, TN 38372 - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The software version will be a 3.5 floppy MS Word document. Make them to Tony Hays. After October 1st: 3.5 -- $35 plus $5 Hardcopy -- $45 plus $5. The reason for the higher price on the hardcopy lies simply in production costs. Making paper copies is a lot more expensive than the cost of a 3.5. The hardcopy will be more than 300 pages long with more than 5,000 individuals and close to 8,000 total entries (or more).
