    3. I found this obituary in some records of Pope County, AR and thought it might be of interest to some Hardin County researcher. This is not part of my any of my lines (as far as I know) so I don't have other information on the family. I did look on the 1850 Hardin County census and found James B Erwin and Rebecca living in District 6 on page 209b. I believe her parents are probably Thomas W and Mary C Poindexter also in District 6 on page 204a. This is written as I found it. (If you connect, say hello). "Rebecca Jarratt Erwin (nee) Poindexter, was born in Hardin County, Tenn., Sept. 15, 1829. (Died in Russellville, Ark., at 8:30 a. m. Wednesday April 22, 1885.) Was raised by pious parents. Was baptized by Rev. Oliver Brown of the N. C. Confernece in 1830, was born again June 22, 1846 under the preaching of B. B. Abernathy, in Hardin County, Tenn., joined the M. E. church south the same day and have lived as near a Christian as I could for my opportunity-was married to J. B. Erwin Dec. 2, 1846 by Rev. C. Laxon in Pergamos Chapel, lived in Hardin county until 1857. Came to Arkansas, lived here until the spring of 1864, moved to Indianan contrary to our designs, then back to Ark., and in 1871 settled in Russellville, among the most sociable people we have found in any place-love them dearly, wish them well for time and eternity-am the mother of seven children, five on earth and two in Heaven, am still able to do most of my work for which I am very thankful to my Heavenly Father who giveth me so many blessings." The above, is an auto-biographical sketch of our dear sister Erwin, who left us for the Glory land on Wednesday 22nd. In the death of Sister Erwin, the church and community have sustained a great loss. Earth is poorer but heaven is richer. She leaves a husband, five sons (all Christians), several grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn her loss.

    1. William or Callie Worley
    2. Sandy Stolze
    3. I just happened to see these 2 names in my won surname list and wondered if there could be a connection? The Callie Worley I have married Zee Terry. I know they lived in and around the Hardin Cty. area. I have no exact date on them. I know they were my Aunt's in-laws and she was born in 1915. Her husband Dudgar or "Duck" (as he was called) Terry was a good deal older than her. That might help with the dates. Wm. Kyle Worley was born in 1896. He married Leota Madden. I know her parents were from TN. Do you think there is a connection? Sandy If anyone has anything else on Zee Terry, That would also be appreciated. _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! 3. Beckey, I have only Hardin County census records of the Worley Family, 1820-80. I have done very little research. Perhaps other on this list can help. I see a couple of Rebeccas and a Frances Marion and an Elijah, but without dates, I don't know which is the correct person. 3. I wonder if Patty White Wyatt could shed some light on the White questions. She is my mother's cousin and the daughter of Ollie Allen and Charlie Allen White, and grew up in the Hookers Bend community. I would be glad to email her and ask if I can give out her email address, or Orville Gilchrist might be able to ask her some questions about the Whites as his wife is in that family. Just a thought. 3. I need some information on this church. What denomination? Was it a result of a "schism" in another congregation? What became of it? I know the cemetery is there but if I can draw conclusions from the cemetery, the chapel was not in existence long. Just around the corner is the Union Cemetery and they were in use at the same time, so I wonder about Sweeny. Kathy

    3. Does anyone research these families and how they are connected? I have just done a deep search to track these families and have followed all the families from about 1840 through about 1900, but I would like to contact someone who can who can give me details about the families. I also would like additional information on the hanging of Joseph Kemp in Sharp County, AR. I have read two articles on the hanging and it said his father (John W Kemp) took his body back to TN about a year after he was hung. Does anyone know where he was buried? Does anyone know where the Kemps and Garners went to when they left Hardin County? Jennie

    3. Kathy, I don't know what this is all about, but keep us posted. I have been off line for a few days and have fallen behind. 1850, George W. White, 37 VA farmer, and wife Margaret have a son John H. White age 15 and six younger children. 1860, John H White, 25 TN and wife Mary, 24 TN, have a son John White age 1. 3. I have no idea. I think this John White is the son of John and Mary A. White, but the only thing I know is that he is living in the household of Susan Hughes with wife Tennessee. And that John and Mary are just one household away from Susan's. I know the marriage did not last long. It is entirely possible that the Orr family plays a role somewhere in this since Tennessee married D.A. Blankenship and his brother Joseph Butler married Cordelia Orr (15 children). Do you have anything on her? Kathy hhanson wrote: >Kathy, Was this John M. White the same as J.M. 3. This individual was living in Dist. 12 in 1880 census. Anybody have him? He is part of a scandal, marrying a 12 year old. But as you might guess, the marriage did not last. Hope somebody can tell me about him. Kathy

    3. Hi, The fellow you are looking for is John Columbus Tilley, son of Henry Tilley and Mary Rose. John Columbus Tilley married Nancy C. Bratton about 1848 in Hardin County, Tennessee You might want to take a look at this website I put together on the family of Henry Tilley a few years back: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jwmurphy/tilley0.htm The website is also based on an article I submitted to the Hardin County Historical Society's journal probably around 10 years ago. You might also be interested in the Bratton and Rose information I have on my website. I did a large article on the family of Frederick Rose, Sr. (father of Mary Rose) which was published in the Wayne County Historical Society's journal around 8 years. The article plus additions is at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jwmurphy/rose.htm I also have the transcribed petition to sell the land of Paul Bratton, Sr. (father of Nancy C. Bratton) found in Hardin County, Tennessee. It is at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jwmurphy/pbratton.htm Let me know if I can help any more. Jerry W. 3. I'm looking for any information about Rhoda Franks, age 18, in the household of William Thornton in Hardin Co. Census: 1850 Hardin Co. William W "Thorton" 24, Susan A. 24, William W. 1, James W. 1/12, Sparling C., 19, Thomas J. 14, Rhoda Franks 18, AL TN Hd-11-386 I believe Sparling C. Thornton and Thomas J. were relatives: sons of Hosea Thornton, d. 1836, and Cathering Hendrix Thornton Baker. Does anyone know the names of Rhoda Franks' parents, any relationship to Thornton, or what other information is available about her after 1850? Thanks, Loretta Insco
