Hello Everyone, I am new to the Hardeman Co. list and could really use some help finding a way through a brick wall that I have encountered. My ggrandmother was born in Saulsbury, Hardeman Co.. She and her siblings were, allegedly, orphaned and my cousin and I are having a terrible time finding out who their parents were. Here is what we know: Nora Martin, b. July 09, 1875 in Saulsbury (my ggrandm.) Nannie Rochelle Martin, b. 1880 Council Martin, b. abt. 1887 (According to family lore there was another brother born before Nora by the name of Custus, but I have found nothing on him.) Nora married David Homer Stinson, b. Nov. 05, 1863 in Grand Junction, Hardeman Co.. They were married in Hardem. Co. on Jan. 01, 1893. Nannie Rochell Martin married Sherwood Clifft of Hardem. Co. on March 09, 1910. Council Martin married Hazel Gossett and lived most of his life in Memphis. These siblings were grandchildren of Benagy Martin. According to Benagy Martin's will, he left money to the children of his deceased sons and lists Nora, Nannie and Council. We have looked and looked and can find nothing that shows us who their actually parents were. The parts of the 1880 census that can be read does not show them. July 1865, HD Co., TN Lucinda, b. 1849, MS, married Enoch Davis on Nov. 15, 1873 in HD Co., TN George W., b. 1850, MS, married Mollie J. Ussery on Aug. 13, 1873 in HD Co, TN Frances Elizabeth, b. Feb. 01, 1851, MS, d. Aug. 16, 1871 in HD Co., TN married Luther Calvin Street on Sept. 14, 1871 in HD, TN William Thomas, b. July 16, 1853, MS, d. Feb. 14, 1881, HD, TN married Sarah Kathryn Street on Jan. 30, 1879 in HD, TN Council, b. July 10, 1855, MS, d. Dec. 18, 1900, HD, TN married Sarah Kathryn Street on Dec. 24, 1884 in Saulsbury, HD Co., TN Benagy, b. July 06, 1857, MS, d. Aug. 17, 1868 in HD, TN Burloni, b. Aug. 12, 1859, MS d. Dec. 09, 1954 in HD, TN married Annie J. Godsey on Nov. 13, 1888 in HD, TN Elisha, b. Mar. 10, 1862 in HD Co., TN, d. July 26, 1863 in HD Co., TN I apologize for the lengthiness of this, but we completely frustrated and do not know where else to look..
