List Owner TNHARDEM-L : Hardeman CO. TN. Home Page: Branches and Twigs http://home.earthlink.net/~krista3 Surnames: CROUSE * GREEN *JONES * TAYLOR ( NC>Hardeman CO.TN ) CONDER * HICKS * GREEN * MCCORD * MCCEVY/MCKELVY WILSON * WILLIAMS * WISEMAN * WRIGHT * YANDELL ( TN ) CLARK * GRAY * JORDAN/JOURDAN * MILLER * WRIGHT ( AL & GA & MS ) -----Original Message----- From: Pat Vincent [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, September 10, 1998 6:16 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [TNHARDEM-L] Harde-Facts In answer to questions about Harde-Facts: (pronounced like 'artifacts' with an 'h') It is a very small newsletter (9 pages) printed quarterly [Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct] from 1984 to 1998 with the exception of 1992 and 1997 when no issues were printed. It is NOT indexed, and contains miscellaneous information about Hardeman County history and genealogy, with emphasis on previously unpublished/unprinted material. I do not solicit subscriptions, in fact will not take them at this time. [I do not know whether I will be able to compile it in 1999]. Some of the libraries/archives which have been sent copies from the beginning are: NSDAR Library, Washington DC Allen Co Public Library, Fort Wayne IN Samford Univ. Library, Birmingham AL TN Gen Society Library Brunswick TN Family History Library, Salt Lake City UT TN State Library, Nashville TN Hardeman Co Library, Bolivar TN Briefly, some of the topics have been : marriages from 1861 [beginning after Mr. Quinnie Armour's WPA copied marriages which have been published] to 1890 [in the Jul-98]; abstracts of things like some of the will books, deed books, & John Houston Bill's diary; early land entries; some tax records; some family history tid-bits [no indepth lineages]; registration of voters for 1865; some muster rolls; some bible and cemetery records; etc. Some of this information is of course on microfilm and may be obtained from TN State Archives. Since these twelve years of hodge-podge have not been indexed, finding 'a' name is very time consuming so I cannot offer that service. If I were to be asked for advise of someone starting a newsletter, it would be to index as you go along to save time for your reader and yourself. pat vincent-<[email protected]>
