Don't see a connection; but there were Shorts in so AR; as well as I have Clayton relatives. An Aunt m. Dr. Clayton--descendant Rev. Ralph Clayton, Little Rock, AR now, and Mrs. Frank Lucy, Longview, TX. Neither has e-mail that I know about. Best as I remember the Claytons were in TN. My Hugh Blair McMahan was in Hardeman and McNairy in 1830 and 1840 who moved to Claiborne Parish, LA in 1849. Hope this helps.
