In the late 1820s and early 1830s, there was a FRANCIS SHOEMAKE in Hardeman Co. TN. He appears on the 1830 census there. Per that census, he was born about 1790-1800 and had in his household one female under age 5, one female 20-30, and one female 30-40. He also appears in court documents transacting business in the early 1830s, and may have been a partner in an enterprise named "Shoemake and Wilson" (per court records). I saw someone's data on ancestry.com which said Francis Shoemake was married to a SYNTHIA CARTER, daughter of a James Carter b.1768 TN and Phoebe Ballard. The person's data says this James Carter went to Fannin County, Texas by 1849. Am wondering if Francis Shoemake did also, as haven't found him on the census after 1830. Also per the 1830 Hardeman Co. census, Francis Shoemake lived next door to Green B. Carter, son of Jesse Carter of that county. I would like to verify whether or not Francis Shoemake's wife was "Synthia" Carter. If so, would like to know whether or not she was related to her next door neighbor Green B. Carter.
