I was prowling along the rootsweb boards and found this one, I lived in Hardeman county for many years. I was reading the archives and saw that someone had inquired about where the patients were buried a cemetery was mentioned across the road from Western. However, I lived around the corner from Western, behind Patterson's Grocery (or Bishop's Grocery however you know it as I was married into that family at the time) and if you walked through the woods behind the store to the edge of Western's property, there are numerous graves that are basically unmarked, there are concrete markers on some with numbers on them (my ex-husband's grandmother worked there in the early years and said that they did not know the names of these patients so they used their numbers). You can see all the graves as they are sunken now and filled with leaves. It is truly a sad place. If anyone wants info on these you can probably call Western for more info, if anyone who works there now would know! not sure.
