W. is my ancestor, and his f-i-l was Jack Farned, often misspelled. I am convinced there is a reason why James settled in Hardeman and in Saulsbury. Family lore has it that there is some connection with Mary Todd Lincoln, but that may be wishful thinking. In my data I picked up that Levi M. Todd had a brother named Major William Todd. I am wondering if he is the same Major William Todd who married (2nd) Emily Williams. If so, it would add some explanation to the movement of my Todds.
