Harris of you all - they are buried in Harris Cemetary, Hardeman Co. TN. My grggAxie Lee Elkins ( 1818 - Nov 1890 ) married Samuel B. Harris, Jr.; and his brother Thomas Harris ( 14 Feb 1811 - 23 Sep 1883 ) w/wife Lucinda Cheshier ( 27 Sep 1818 - 30 Oct 1884 ) also buried there. Their mother Mary ( Coates ) Harris also there ( 17 Jan 1777 - 19 Apr 1864 ). I'm trying to find the Elkins family who married Samuel B. Harris Jr...he married first Elizabeth Elkins 1834, then Axie Lee Elkins who had Martha Ann Harris m. James T. Jacobs of Walter and Rebecca Kempt Jacobs.
Does anyone know where I could possible find information on a wagon train that left Hardeman/NcNairy Co. area somewhere in the time frame of 1851-52 heading west to southern Missouri. Some of the family names that would have been traveling with this group would have been, HIGHFIELD, JACKSON, NORTON, FORTNER, ROWLAND, SHAW and CASE. The CASE, JACKSON, HIGHFIELD and ROWLAND's married amoungst themself. My 4th great grandfather, Needham JACKSON, brought his family west on this train. I am trying to determine if his daughter, my 3rd gr grandmother was married prior to leaving TN or married sometime after they left. Not only was she a JACKSON she married a JACKSON. Thanks for any help anyone can pass my direction. Becky
