I am a descendant of Gibsons--but not the Gibson who married Molly Carter. My Gibson ancstors were before the time of Molly. At this time I do not have access to my database, so I do not remember all details. I believe that my earliest Gibson ancestor, about whom I know was Jesse Gibson. His widowed wife died in Hardeman Co., TN maybe about 1860+. Descendants of Jesse Gibson came to Coryell County and to Hamilton County and many are buried in the Carlton Cemetery, Hamilton County. TX--and some are included on my gazetteer. My first cousin, once removed, is a granddaughter of Alfred Lafayette Carter, son of Henry Jones Carter, son of Levi Carter. Perhaps the earliest resident of what would become Hamilton County, TX, was a Robert Carter--but I have not connected Robert Carter to Henry Jones Carter--they were contemporaries and early pioneers in Hamilton County. Information about the Carters is included on the gazetteer. In researching the Gibsons, we have not been able to get all of the lines straight. If I remember correctly, Ephraim Gibson, son of Jesse Gibson, may have married his Gibson neice?????
