Hi list members, Some of my ancestors migrated from Halifax, Mecklenburg and Brunswick Counties in VA to Bolivar, Hardeman Co., TN about 1830. Part of that group moved on to Ellis Co., TX in the 1870's and others are buried in and near Bolivar. A cousin and I have been discussing the correct pronunciation of Hardeman. Is it two syllables as in "Harde-man", or is it three syllables as in Hard-e-man"? Thanks for the help.
