For those of you searching your family, if you run into anything on the Dillard family, I would appreciate hearing of it. My Dillard family were in Hardeman County prior to 1850. Willis Dillard was on the 1830 census with several people in his household. The Court meeting in April 1829 ordered that Willis, Owen (his son) and Shadrack Owens (son-in-law) be paid for some work they had done on a bridge. Owen died (before 1833) leaving a small son, Orren Wayne. I'm wondering if there would be guardianship papers. Sarah Ewing Dillard, widow of Owen, was still living. Thank you, Joan S.
