    3. My connection is JAMES CARTER and his wife SALINA ROXANNA DEAN who married in Hardeman County 4-27-1836, moved about 1838 to Tippah County MS, and in 1851 went to Texas. Don't know how long they had been in Hardeman County prior to their marriage or to whom they were related, other than possibly someone named G.B. CARTER who was "2nd Bondsman" on their marriage record (on file in Hardeman Co. Courthouse). Following is additional information about James and Salina. I'll send a separate post to the list concerning other CARTERs and DEANs in Hardeman County who might (or might not?) have been related. JAMES CARTER Born 4-22-1815, prob. 3. Good Morning Everyone I have been following the roll call with interest, is anyone familiar with the Texas Land Company formed in Hardeman County and group left in 1831 for migration to DeWitt's Colony in what was than Mexican Texas?? My +++great-grandmother Sarah (Sally) Grogan came with this group that was formed by several Hardeman County business men in late 1830. She was born in Tn in 1813, however on one of her marriage bond's she said she was late of Alabama. I know some of the other members came from other surrounding counties of West TN. If anyone has any information on this group as a whole or Sally Grogan in particular I would love to hear from you. Thanks Linda Davis FT Worth, TX > Hello Everyone, > > My name is Dan Fulghum. 2. Sid Bean
    3. My name is Sid. I live in Northern California. I am researching DRENNANs and LORANCEs in Hardeman Co. Both names are spelled a number of different ways. The DRENNANs were in Hardeman Co during 1835-1850, the LORANCEs probably longer. Specifically, William DRENNAN married Polly LORANCE on 29 May 1838 in Hardeman Co. I believe William & Polly were my gg grandparents. They had at least 3 children and moved on to Arkansas about 1848-49. I'd like to share info about these families.

    2. Jerry Dixon
    3. Hi, I am Jerry Dixon and I live in LA area, I am working on William Dixon family who obtained a land grant in Hardeman Co. He is my GG Grandfather. William Dixon (1812- died before 1881) married in 1835 Chatman Co. NC to Eliza Jones Deming (1821-1886). They Moved to Hardeman Co. around Toon, TN about 1839. They owned land close to Fisher A. and Elizabeth Deming, Eliza's parents. The Dixons showed up in 1840, 1850, and 1860 Hardeman Co. Census, but none after that. They most likely died in Hardeman Co. but I have no record of their death or burial there other than Bolivar Bulletin stating she died. I have checked the on line Hardeman Co. cemetery information. Thanks, Jerry Dixon

    2. Beverly Crawford
    3. Dan -- My 3rd greatgrandfather John Crawford would have been a contemporary of Arthur Fulghum. John was born in Wayne County, NC around 1774. He settled in middle Tennessee -- Rutherford County -- after 1800, but moved back to NC (Johnston County) after 1810. John and his wife Ann Fellow settled in Hardeman County in the 1820's. John died there before 1840. Here is a tangential connection to the McKinnies -- Ann Fellow Crawford's father William Fellow was married to Zilpha McKinnie, Alice's sister, before he married Ann's mother. I am interested in the name Raiford. (Two of John's brothers also settled in Hardeman County -- Raiford and Edwin.) Why were there so many children named "Raiford"? I realize that there were several familiies with the surname Raiford who lived in Isle of Wight County, VA and moved on to Wayne County, NC in the 18th century. 3. Hi Dan, Do you know anything about the Fulghams in Webster and Oktibbeha counties in Mississippi? I have plenty of them on my mother's side but I have not researched into them enough yet to tell you a whole lot. I do know that there were "supposedly" two sets of Fulghams in those areas ( I think that was just a cover up for all of the cousin getting married down there but I am not sure.) Supposedly, my grandmother is from one line of them and she married into the other line. His names was Erskin Fulgham. I would love to know if you are linked to them. I have a lot of cemeteries that have many Fulghams in with my Kellums and Fondrens. I look forward to hearing from you. Suzie > Hello Everyone, > > My name is Dan Fulghum.
