Hi Karen, It's good to know that someone on the list actually lives in Hardeman County. I left there when I was two years old but I was back for a visit at every opportunity. When I was visiting down there in the summer for a week or two, seems like I had kinfolks all over the place. Things sure have changed. The reason for the message is that you had Yarbrough on you list. My mothers second husbands name was Howell Yarbrough. Don't know much more than that. She was married five times. Hi Jenwyl, Thank you. Yes, I would like to have a copy of the picture. Did you find any errors in the information that I posted? I am working on this family from afar, using only the internet. I have been to Hardeman Co., but it has been several years, and at that time, I didn't know they were part of my family. Do you know anyone who descends from William and Mary who might have information on her mother & father. I have not found when or where they died. I'll look forward to hearing from you. Thanks again. He is supposed to have worked for the railroad while in Hardeman Co. Can anyone help me locate him? Thanks, JoAnne

Hello everyone, I live in Georgia, near Atlanta. My surnames in Hardeman County are FERRELL/FERRILL, ROGERS, and HARRIS. So far, FERRELL is the only one I have spent much time on. My great-great grandfather, Thomas F. FERRELL (1820-1878), married Nancy S. ROGERS (1830-1910) in October of 1853. They are both buried in the New Hope Church of Christ Cemetery. Nancy's parents were Richard ROGERS and Permelia HARRIS. Thomas was born in North Carolina and married Mary SHEARIN there before coming to Hardeman Co. I don't know who his parents are at this point. Thomas and Mary had 3 children that I know of: Asa J.; Mary Elizabeth; and George F. Thomas and Nancy had 10 children according to her Civil War widow's pension application, 6 of which were still living in 1905: Richard Franklin (my great-grandfather); William C.; Sarah C.; Robert Monroe; Sophronia F.; and Margaret Alice. Thanks, Jenwyl
Looking for information about Daniel and Mary Adams listed on the 1840 Hardeman Co Census. Also, Ephraim Dixon and Mary Ann Bray Adams who were married in Hardeman Co in 1841 and later moved to DeSota Co, MS. Was Ephraim the son of Daniel and Mary Adams? Bob rwtate@ipa.net
Hi Searchers I am researching WALKERs in Wilson Co. TX. I just saw an Abe HUNT in Pack WALKER's household on 1910 census listed as half brother. On 1900 Bexar County TX census Abe HUNT is a widower, head of household which includes my great aunt Blanche WALKER listed as niece. I'm attempting to discover if the WALKERs & HUNTs are related & if both families came from Hardeman Co. TN to Texas. If anyone knows of a WALKER or HUNT coming to TX around 1850-1855 with slaves, please respond. Thanks much. Jamie Harris Texan in Las Vegas Jamie Harris

Howdy ya'll, I'm Jo from Huntsville Texas and I'm working on my husbands family: Sorrell, Hamlet/Hamlett, Johnson, Wilson, Green. They came from North Carolina to Tennessee down to Mississippi and back to Tennessee as far as I can find. And going by the stories the family tells there is suppost to be family still in the Hickory Valley area and over into Fayette County too. _________________________________________________________________ Frustrated with dial-up? Hi, I am Kay Linn from Midland, TX. I am researching the following families in Hardeman County. They were there in the early to mid 1800s. Most all of the families had moved to Tippah Co., MS and Lafayette Co., MS by the 1850 census and most then moved to Texas by 1870-1880. BOGARD, NORTON, SHORT and TIDWELL. Kay
Hi! My name is Pam Tillman-Goff and I am researching the Tillman & Perry Families. My Tillman's migrated into TN from the Chatham County area in NC in about the 1820's. The Tillman's I have had great luck in research but the Perry's are a different story. Samuel Taylor Tillman (b-1800 NC) married Martha Clara Perry around 1821 in NC. Martha passed away after their 3rd child and Samuel married Martha's sister Mary Carter Perry around 1825. The sisters also had a sister named Bethia (sp??). I cannot locate this Perry Family. The Perry Family may have migrated into TN when the Tillman's did as well. (Bedford, Hardem, Coffee, McNairy Counties) Any help with either family would be wonderful! Thanks! Pam

I have CROWs that were born in TN and moved to San Augustine Co, TX in the middle 1830s. I have seen that the area that James and Levi moved to in San Augustine Co, was also known as the "Tennessee Colony". Hope to hear from some with any info concerning the CROW brothers, Texas Land Co, and the "Tennessee Colony". I am a descendant of Gibsons--but not the Gibson who married Molly Carter. My Gibson ancstors were before the time of Molly. At this time I do not have access to my database, so I do not remember all details. I believe that my earliest Gibson ancestor, about whom I know was Jesse Gibson. His widowed wife died in Hardeman Co., TN maybe about 1860+. Descendants of Jesse Gibson came to Coryell County and to Hamilton County and many are buried in the Carlton Cemetery, Hamilton County. TX--and some are included on my gazetteer. My first cousin, once removed, is a granddaughter of Alfred Lafayette Carter, son of Henry Jones Carter, son of Levi Carter. Perhaps the earliest resident of what would become Hamilton County, TX, was a Robert Carter--but I have not connected Robert Carter to Henry Jones Carter--they were contemporaries and early pioneers in Hamilton County. Information about the Carters is included on the gazetteer. In researching the Gibsons, we have not been able to get all of the lines straight. If I remember correctly, Ephraim Gibson, son of Jesse Gibson, may have married his Gibson neice?????
