Hey Everyone, I know sometimes on other list, with new people coming and going all the time, it is nice to have a Roll Call once in a while just to see who we have here and who everyone is looking for. It may give some of us some new leads or freshen up some old ones. Anyone else interested? I will start and those who want to join in just jump right in here. Those who don't, just delete. My name is Susan Glidewell-Hinckley. I am in North Mississippi. I am looking for the following surnames in Hardeman county: King, Glidewell, Swindle, Tindoll, Webb, Cooper, Crouse and McCarver. Some of the other names I am researching outside of Hardeman county are: Kellum, Greene, Green, Palmertree, Faulkner, Fortner, Jennings and Prewitt. Any information would be great. Several of those I am just starting on but, there are also quiet a few that I have a good deal of information on. I am looking forward to hearing from the rest of you.

For those of you searching your family, if you run into anything on the Dillard family, I would appreciate hearing of it. My Dillard family were in Hardeman County prior to 1850. Willis Dillard was on the 1830 census with several people in his household. The Court meeting in April 1829 ordered that Willis, Owen (his son) and Shadrack Owens (son-in-law) be paid for some work they had done on a bridge. Owen died (before 1833) leaving a small son, Orren Wayne. I'm wondering if there would be guardianship papers. Sarah Ewing Dillard, widow of Owen, was still living. Thank you, Joan S. According to the probate records of Benjamin Shivers deceased Aug 1840 in Shelby County Tn, his Administrator and brother James Shivers paid at Bolivar on Dec 28 1842 $180.73 in full of an execution issued from the Chancery court at Somerville on a lien in favor of James Hundly against said Shivers & Israel Watkins at November term 1842. I would like a volunteer to locate this record and make me a copy. Email me terms and arrangements. This is the second mention of this problem between James Shivers, Benjamin Shivers, Israel Watkins and James Hundly but this one listed a date specific. Surnames: Trainum, Talley, Wilson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/jhB.2ACI/158.1.1.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: The Cornelius W. Trainum mentioned above had a sister named Catherine Ann Trainum. She is my great great grandmother. Married in February, 1842 to James A. Talley in Maury County, TN., she had six children, the youngest of which was my ggrandfather John Bell Talley. As you show, Cornelius Trainum's (and Catherine's) parents were Jeremiah Trainum and Elizabeth Wilson. I have not been able to prove that to the satisfaction of the SAR or DAR, i.e., proof of birth or ancestry by will, etc. Do you have such proof? I believe that Jeremiah was the son of a William Trainum from Sumner Co., TN who also applied for a Revolutionary Pension. Additionally, Jeremiah and Willliam are shown in the 1823 Tax List for Maury Co. adjacent to each other. Catherine was buried in Obion Co. in 1876 at the United Meth. Church Cemetery.
Cemetery Inscriptions and Notes, Volume 1 by Owens-Davidson-Cox shows 3 cemeteries with New Hope in the name. New Hope Camp Ground Cemetery is located north of Clover Creek just off Highway 100 in the Whiteville, Vildo area. New Hope Cemetery is located west of Bolivar on the Paul Shearon Farm off Vildo Road. New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery is located off the old Vildo Road, behind the Paul Shearin House. I do not see a Williams listed but the authors note that they were not able to copy all the incriptions in the first cemetery. Charlotte Holloway's online listings also have 3 cemeteries (adding a New Hope Church of Christ Cemetery to New Hope and New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian), but her notes say that there is another New Hope cemetery that she will need a guide to get to. I suspect that this is the Camp Ground cemetery mentioned above. In 1966, the authors above indicated that the Camp Ground cemetery was abandoned in the woods, was very hard to get to and required a long walk to get there. >From: "Bessie Turley" <turley@usit.net> >Reply-To: TNHARDEM-L@rootsweb.com >To: TNHARDEM-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [TNHARDEM] NEW HOPE CEMETERY??? >Date: Sun, 25 Jan 2004 07:21:56 -0600 > >HELLO, > >SOMEONE TOLD ME THERE IS MORE THAN ONE NEW HOPE CEMETERY IN HARDMAN >COUNTY,IF SO CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHERE THEY ARE LOCATED? > >STILL LOOKING FOR MY WILLIAMS FAMILY OF HARDEMAN COUNTY. > > > >THANKS >BESSIE > > _________________________________________________________________ High-speed usersbe more efficient online with the new MSN Premium Internet Software. http://join.msn.com/?pgmarket=en-us&page=byoa/prem&ST=1
