    1. [TNHARDEM-L] Posting Changes
    2. Susie Grant
    3. Folks, Over the next few days, Rootsweb will be making some changes to it's Smartlist software (the software that manages email lists) that will "bounce" any email that contains an "attachment" or is not in "ASCI" coding. This will effect every email list hosted on the Rootsweb servers, not just the Hardeman Co List. It will not effect "private" emails, only those to the Lists. What this means is that any email that you send to the Hardeman Co. list that contains an "attached" file, or is written in HTML, "Rich Text Format", MIME, styles, etc. will be rejected by the Rootsweb servers and returned to you, un-sent to the list. Should you post an email that is rejected and you don't understand why, please contact me for help in correcting the problem. Rootsweb hosts thousands of genealogy email lists and has instituted this change in response to complaints from the various listowners and list members. Thanks, Susie Susie Jourdan - Grant [email protected] Listowner for TNHARDEM-L ( History and Family research in Hardeman Co. TN.) Home Page: Branches and Twigs http://home.earthlink.net/~krista3

    3. Hello Lisa, There are some newspaper articles that have been extracted, but only after 1866. TSLA has newspapers on microfilm, but I ordered Bolivar Bulletin (Misc.) 1829-1868 and was very disappointed. I can see why they were not published, nothing much on them. There is mention of a Needham INGRAM Jr. in the Will extract of a William SIMPSON Sr. in Hardeman County, Will book 5, page 365-6. The article states his relationship to Mr. Simpson is not mentioned. William SIMPSON SR. Wife: Mary Simpson Sons: John Simpson and William Simpson Daus:Susanna Crutchfield and Mary Ann Mayfield Does not give relation of following: Forrest McKaughm, Marshall Seddens, Needham INGRAM JR., Issac Simpson Exec: Wm. Simpson & Needham INGRAM Wits:M.M. POWELL & Samuel Simpson William Simpson (his x mark) Recorded 31 Jan. 1835. ( The full will is available from TSLA using his name, book # and page#) ********************************************** You may have had this already, but hope it helps. 3. Looking for any trace of William P Hampton and his family in Tennessee. William was born Aug 8 1789 in North Carolina. He married Malinda ( maiden name unknown) born about 1792 in Virginia. William and Malinda had seven children but I only have information on two of them. John H Hampton born 1818 in Tennessee and James P Hampton born 1827 in Tennessee. William and his family moved to what is now Dade County Missouri in 1833 and were some of the first settlers there. I have information on William's decendents but have not been able to find his parents or siblings. I would like to find out where in Tennessee William lived and where in Tennessee his sons were born. Would also like to share information with anyone researching the HAMPTON's in Tennessee. Thanks for your time Jaime [email protected]

    3. |||||| (o o) oOOo-(_)-oOOo ___|___|___|___|___| ___|___|___|___|___| Just popping over to say... Hello! This is the first time to post to this list , and I would like to see if there is anyone who has or is researching the Harris Line or Bogard Line .in Hardeman or surrounding counties, I am currently trying to gather information concerning Joel Harris a Methodist Minister, who arrived in Hardeman Co. abt 1820, I believe he came from Middle Tn, perhaps Maury Ct, or possibly Edgecomb Ct. N.C. , I'm not sure of which. He had several children born in Hardeman , his oldest daughter Annis b.1812 was my gggrandmother who married James M Bogard (b. 1792 in Tazwell Ct. Va.) . The mystery I'm preplexed about is who was Curtis Bogard ?? , mentioned in Joel Harris will of abt 1850. James and Annis Bogard had five children, Joel H Bogard b. 1839, Jacob S Bogard b. 1841, ( My g Grandfather), John W. Bogard b. 1843, Martha J Bogard b. 1847 and Martin Bogard, b. 1856 There weres no other children of this union , that I know of and since Joel Harris's Will, only mentioned heirs of the Harris Surname, except for Curtris Bogard. (What was this Bogard connection to Joel) Annis and James were married in 1839 a few months before their first child. Joel H Bogard was born, leads me to believe, that maybe Annis or James were married before??? I have several more questions, and would like to communicate with anyone who is researching these lines or has any knowledge of what happened to Joel H, John W. or Martha J. Bogard , they seemed to have vanished beween the 1860's and 1870's Maybe some one could help me to clear up these missing pieces of my puzzle. James and Annis moved to Marshall County Ms. in the 1840's and then on to Tippah County Ms by 1850, where James died in 1856. Would enjoy communicating with any that may see a connection or who may have info on these lines. always glad to share Family information Also researching Mahaffey, Leaths, Woodson connections. 3. The names I'm researching in Hardeman County include: COX, DEATON, and MAXEDON. Javan COX and his wife, Mariah, came from NC to TN before 1830. First in McNairy County and then by 1860 William Bennett COX (Javan's grandson) was in Hardeman Co. William Bennett COX married Mary Catherine DEATON, in Hardeman County, 2 JAN 1860. Branson DEATON came with his family from NC to McNairy TN, arriving before 1840. By 1860 the DEATONs were in Hardeman County. Both Branson DEATON and William Bennett COX had moved their families to Fayette Co, IL by 1870. Branson's father(John) and some of the other DEATONs left TN for TX. I would like to know if the rest of the COX family were in Hardeman (see attached) and any additional information on the DEATONs. I'll be happy to share any information I have.
