    3. Hey Paul, THERE are still Naylors around Finger. Seems like one of them wrote a book recently on the history of Finger. I was raised just down the road from there at Bethel. 3. Hi Gang, I'm looking for decendants of Robert Oscar Naylor. He was born in Finger. According to the headstone, on June 17, 1880. I have heard Dad talk about an Aunt Martha, Aunt Cibie, Uncle Frank and Uncle Ben. A Robert O. is listed on the 1910 Chester Co. Census with George as father and Amanda C. is buried with him at Friendship Cemetary. What I am trying to find out is, were there more than one Robert O. Naylor in Chester Co. , McNairy Co. or anywhere close by. The 1910 census listed him as 28, he shuld have been 30 in 1910. Robert Oscar Naylor married Nancy Ann Gilam somewhere around 1921. They moved to Memphis and then shortly afterward to Pine Bluff, AR. He was a Coach Builder for the Cotton Belt Rail Road In P.B. 1. [TNHARDEM-L] TO Susie Grant about J. T. JONES
    2. Susie, Here is the bio on Thornton and Nancy Jones, hope that I have not given this to you previously. But it is surely worth repeating. Thornton and Nancy Jones were living in Hardeman County at the time of its creation in 1823. On 7 June 1826, he took out an occupant claim for 50 acres in the county and later acquired more land. Thornton was born 24 March 1783, in South Carolina. Nancy was born 2 March 1788 in Georgia. By 1814 Thornton and Nancy were living in Robertson county, TN when Thornton enlisted as a soldier in the War of 1812, on 13 Nov 1814, at Nashville. He was a second lieutenant in Captain Richard Crunk's Company of Infantry, Second Regiment West Tennessee Militia, under the command of Colonel John Cooke. He was honorably discharged on 13 May 1815 at Nashville. Thornton and Nancy were the parents of nine children: John T. 1808; James M. 1810 in Georgia, married Rebecca A. Casey in 1835, and died in 1854; Caroline 1813 in Tennessee, married Mumford Stokes Marsh in 1829, and died in 1879; Harriet Wilson 1815, married William Brooks Ruffin in 1833; Olivia married Joseph Short in 1834; W. 2. Several years ago while in Nashville I found an article in McNairy County Independent Newspaper, Selmer, TN, Friday, Dec. 17, 1948 - First White Settler in Western Tennessee. The subject of the article was DANIEL COX. According to the article three of Daniel's children married children of GATIS/GAYDUS FOX who died ca. 1855 in Gibson Co., TN. Over the years I have corresponded with many descendants of these families. I'm hoping some of those people are on this mailing list because I really do need to shout, days of doing handsprings are long since gone. I'VE FOUND THEM! Daniel and Darkis were in Casey Co., KY. They apparently sold their property on 24 Aug 1816 in preparation for their move to AL and then into the Hardman-McNairy Co., TN, area. A special thanks to David Hacking for contacting me about the FOX family. With our combined information, I think we're going to be able to finally document an old family legend. Jacque
