    2. Mark, The only thing I found in 4 books is in the Hardeman Co Historical Sketches. It is a bio on Johnnie and Remer Ebenezer McKee Harbin. Johnnie is the son of John H. and Susie E. Howell Harbin. Is this your John (John H), along with wife Susie? Mindy [email protected]

Does anyone have access to marriage records - I am looking for an entry between Sarah J DUNN and William A FAUGHT prior to the census of Aug 1870. 1. Re: [TNHARDEM-L] Bart WILSON
    2. Thanks for your response!! The only kin listed in the Bryant Cemetery is Isaac Wilson whom died in 1861 unknown causes. Through census info he was an older brother to Alexander B.(Bart) Wilson. According to a map I found in an old genealogy book Bryant is on the east side of the highway between Salisbury and 72 Hwy. and the Redfern is shown on the west side. Found what is possibly Redfern but no Bart. He died 1917 Hickory Valley, Hardeman Co. One son John William Wilson and several sibling's are buried in Magnolia Cemetery, Collierville. Another son, my g grandfather Robert Jackson buried in Ramer Cemetery, Hardeman Co. Scotty

    1. [TNHARDEM-L] Martin Family
    2. Hello Everyone, I am new to the Hardeman Co. list and could really use some help finding a way through a brick wall that I have encountered. My ggrandmother was born in Saulsbury, Hardeman Co.. She and her siblings were, allegedly, orphaned and my cousin and I are having a terrible time finding out who their parents were. Here is what we know: Nora Martin, b. July 09, 1875 in Saulsbury (my ggrandm.) Nannie Rochelle Martin, b. 1880 Council Martin, b. abt. 1887 (According to family lore there was another brother born before Nora by the name of Custus, but I have found nothing on him.) Nora married David Homer Stinson, b. Nov. 05, 1863 in Grand Junction, Hardeman Co.. They were married in Hardem. Co. on Jan. 01, 1893. Nannie Rochell Martin married Sherwood Clifft of Hardem. Co. on March 09, 1910. Council Martin married Hazel Gossett and lived most of his life in Memphis. These siblings were grandchildren of Benagy Martin. According to Benagy Martin's will, he left money to the children of his deceased sons and lists Nora, Nannie and Council. We have looked and looked and can find nothing that shows us who their actually parents were. The parts of the 1880 census that can be read does not show them. Benagy Martin's family was as follows: Benagy, b. April 16, 1820, in NC, d. Nov. 06, 1893, HD Co. TN wife Matilda Trilihy Wooten, b. Aug. 09 1819, in NC d. June 30, 1894 Children: Martha, b. 1846, TN, married Benjamin Doyle on Dec. 17, 1868 in HD. Co., TN Leonard, b. July 31, 1847, TN, d. July 1865, HD Co., TN Lucinda, b. 1849, MS, married Enoch Davis on Nov. 15, 1873 in HD Co., TN George W., b. 1850, MS, married Mollie J. Ussery on Aug. 13, 1873 in HD Co, TN Frances Elizabeth, b. Feb. 01, 1851, MS, d. Aug. 16, 1871 in HD Co., TN married Luther Calvin Street on Sept. 14, 1871 in HD, TN William Thomas, b. July 16, 1853, MS, d. Feb. 14, 1881, HD, TN married Sarah Kathryn Street on Jan. 30, 1879 in HD, TN Council, b. July 10, 1855, MS, d. Dec. 18, 1900, HD, TN married Sarah Kathryn Street on Dec. 24, 1884 in Saulsbury, HD Co., TN Benagy, b. July 06, 1857, MS, d. Aug. 17, 1868 in HD, TN Burloni, b. Aug. 12, 1859, MS d. Dec. 09, 1954 in HD, TN married Annie J. Godsey on Nov. 13, 1888 in HD, TN Elisha, b. Mar. 10, 1862 in HD Co., TN, d. July 26, 1863 in HD Co., TN I apologize for the lengthiness of this, but we completely frustrated and do not know where else to look.. If anyone out there knows anything about this family, please let me know. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Happy hunting, Lyn Magill-Hoch Albuquerque, NM

    3. I am searching for any information I can find on the surname MILLENDER. My great grandfather DAVID H. MILLENDER was a railroad engineer. I did locate him in the 1891 Male Voters of TN for Hardeman Co. His first wife was ANNA ELIZABETH DUNN. They had two children, WILLIAM HENRY MILLENDER, born 1870 in Middleton, Hardeman Co., and ANNIE MAY MILLENDER. His second marriage was to EULA YOPP on 28 June 1888 in Middleton, Hardeman Co. He died on 20 Feb 1895. The where is a mystery. I appreciate any help anyone can give me in locating information on my great-grandfather. Thanks, Jo Anne Millender Dempsey

    2. Read your message and it got my curiosity up about which graveyard your referring to. My family line, Wilson is from the Saulisbury, TN, Canaan, Miss. area between 1850 and present. Still have kin in Roger Springs area. Searched extensively area of Saulsbury summer before last for graveyard, Redfern Cemetery. My gg grandfather Bart Wilson was supposedly buried there 1917. Found what thought to be Redfern cemetery on west side of highway that runs between Saulsbury and Hopewell in small thicket. Found two small markers of two children and a larger broken marker with initials RLR in underbrush but no Bart probably didn't have marker anyway though. Also, supposed to be a cemetery in same area named Bryant but I haven't located it. Also, glad to hear everyone in area OK, I live in Millington, TN area, everything fine here also.

    1. Re: [TNHARDEM-L] Hardeman Co
    2. Hello Mindy, I first want to apologise to all on the list who may not want to read this. Please delete at this point. Mindy I noticed in your note to Susie that you mentioned the town of Saulsbury. My great-great grandfarther and great grandmother were born in Saulsbury and I am trying to get a lead on how to trace them pre-1880. My gg grandfather was John (Jack, J.S) Bunton born c. 1854. He married Sallie Dickerson and they had two children; John Abrahm and Sarah Ida. By 1880 John, Sallie and John had migrated to AR but Sarah was still in Saulsbury living with Isaac Woodruff, Harriet Woodruff and John Woodruff (a son). Ida was listed as Ida Bunting but based on her mother's (Sallie's) death certificate I concluded that since Harriet was her grandmother this was likely to be my Ida. All of that to say, I don't expect that you have any information but if you can lead me to any city directories or records that might have been kept at that time (absent the family bible). I would be truly grateful. I realize based on the number of queries that I receive that you can't possible have information on all of them so I want to say right away that even a post saying I have no ideas is a big help because it has introuduced me to one more serious genealogy (I am a beginner...have been for 15 years...I still have soooo much to learn, I don't think I will ever be a pro..but I am working on it.) Have a super day. Anita

    2. Susie, A note just to say: I was planning on going to the courthouse at Bolivar today, which is only 40 minutes from my home, but after the storm, I thought I probably should wait til next week. The town of Saulsbury got hit pretty hard and I am sure that the people there are VERY busy trying to clean up a bit. I am anxious to go the family gravesite to re-assure myself that the little monument, headstones and the fence are still in tact, because it is in a heavily wooded area. (gotta take care of the folks, ya know) Well have a good day all Mindy
