Peggy, For well over a week now I've also tried to access the archives for Hardeman Co TN searches and have rec'd the same error you are getting. I've started thinking "someone" is trying to get me to give up on rootsweb and start paying or something. Linda McKee ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peggy C. There is a notation in some papers I have from the Woods family. It states that David Woods moved to Hardeman County in the winter of 1824 and lived on the land first settled by "Daniel Davis". This would be in the Hickory Valley / Mount Comfort area. There is also a "Davis" bridge South of Middleton where a battle was fought during the Civil War. I hope this may be of interest. I have a Frances Davis in the family of Augustus Davis in the Northern part of the county. We have been unable to tell if this is a male or female. A brother-in-law George Yarbrough was executor of the estate. Karen
I am looking for information for John S. and Louisa J. Acree. John died before 1920 and their children were: George, Tabitha, Samuel, Robert, Dalton, Ethel, Mattie. John and Louisa moved to Hardeman from Madison county. If anyone has any information on these Acree's, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks. Sandy
Any chance you have a Francisia (Frances) Davis?? She married Andrew Jackson "Jack" Smith in 1858 in Hardeman County. They lived near Grand Junction. Thanks. Howdy, George Washington VAUGHAN had 2 stores in Hardeman County, TN. One in Saulsbury and one in Pocahontas. He lived in Tippah County and Marshall County, Mississippi. And operated a store in Holly Springs, Marshall Co., MS. But he didn't operate the stores in Hardeman County himself. I have some copies of microfilm from Jackson library, made several years ago, of land grants for several Vaughn/Vaughans. One was Benjamin. We don't know what the W. in our George W. stands for- just assumptions.
Benjamin Vaughan b. 1805 in SC, and second wife, Elizabeth Mathis had a son named George Peter Vaughan b. Par 1842. George Peter was a confederate soldier under Capt H.H. Wood. George P. was one of 11 children, none of which are old enough to have been the father of George W. (Hardeman County Historical Sketches, 1979, pg 311.) Karen

As far as I know, he isn't. I don't have anything of Benjamin's siblings or parents. I have been told that there were at least 2 unrelated Vaughan/Vaughn families in Hardeman Co. Good luck with your search, I've hit a Brick Wall with mine.
