By 1850 he had left Hardeman Co, TN to Desoto Co, MS where he spent the remainder of his life. I have a lot of information on J.C.N. but was looking for a picture. Thanks.
I don't have the entire index, but have copied a few pages for my own research. If you want to give me the name you are looking for, I will check the pages I have. J. He was born in Hardeman Co. TN. He was a primitive Baptist preacher and left TN to settle in Ark. He had a brother named J.C.N. Robertson who, along with his wife Sarah and daughter Lydia, were living next door to J.M.C. in 1860 (according to the 1860 Ouachita Co. census). I know there was more than one J.C.N. Is your J.C.N. the one that went to Ark? J.M.C. and J.C.N.'s father was Charles Robertson. I don't know what happened to J.C.N. after J.M.C. left Ark. to live in Texas. Incidentally, J.C.N.'s occupation was listed as physician in the 1860 census.
Hello all: I'm a new list member and would like to know if anyone has access to the Tennessee Census Index for 1860 and 1870. I can access the census images, but need to know where to look for the family I am looking for. If anyone can help, I would sincerely appreciate it. Ken Jackson Greenwood, MS

There is no genealogical society in Hardeman County. The closest ones are the Mid-West TN Gen Soc in Jackson/Madison Co TN [publication- Family Findings] and the TN Gen Soc in Memphis [publication-Ansearchin' News]. Hamlett born 1870 in Tennessee, married to Franklin Shearin on February 6, 1892. Is this the person that you are looking for? She was the daughter of William Robert Hamlett and Eliza C. H. Powell. William Robert Hamlett was a brother of my great grandmother, Mary Ann Hamlett. They were the children of William Hamlett and Frances W. Harvey who migrated to Hardeman County, TN from Halifax Co., NC. I would be interested to hear more from you. Carolyn Haisty camayh@cox-internet.com
