FULLER, HUGH ECKEL - 84, of Lochridge, Kingsport, Tenn., passed away Friday, October 19, 2001 at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital, Kingsport. A son of the late Jon L. and Kate Alley Fuller, he was a native of Robinette Valley, Hancock County, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Juanita Horton Fuller, and also by his brother, Guyle and W.D. Fuller, and his sister, Opal Fuller. He received his early education in Hancock County and Church Hill, graduating from Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport in 1936. He earned his degree in 1953. He taught school at Independence and Wake Forest Elementary Schools in Hancock County, Hancock County High School and Rye Cove High School in the late 1930's and early 1940's. He was a US Army veteran, serving at bases in Georgia and Mississippi during World War II. He returned to Kingsport in 1946 and began teaching Tenn. history at John Sevier Junior High School. He continued to teach there until his retirement in 1978. He was saved at an early age and for many years he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Fuller was an avid musician and was skilled in playing the banjo, guitar, mandolin, concertina, piano and other instruments. While in college, he performed locally with two other students and in later years he performed with his brothers in law and close friends, Luke and York Horton. He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Carol and Randall Overbey of Knoxville; and by his son and daughter in law Noel and Martha Fuller of Kingsport, with whom he had made his home in recent years. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Mrs. Thomas (Julie) King, Jr., Cary, NC, and Jamie Fuller, Kingsport and two grandsons, Bryan Fuller, Knoxville, and Robert Overbey, New York, NY; and two great grandsons, Cameron and Thomas King, III, Cary, NC. He is also survived by a brother in law, Luke Horton, Eidson, and sisters in law, Betty Horton, Eidson, Nancy Horton, Blountville, and Elizabeth Fuller, Weber City; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday at Colonial Heights Baptist Church, Kinsport. Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Colonial Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald D. Hicks, the Rev. Bobby Russell and Dr. Roland Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Kingsport with military rites conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post No. 3. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to Colonial Heights Baptist church, 108 Colonial Heights Road, Kingsport, Tenn. 37663 or to the Gideons International, P.O.
