>From the Topeka Capital Journal http://www.cjonline.com April 10, 2002 Larry E. Hopkins, 80, Topeka, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at a Topeka hospital. Mr. Hopkins worked in the office machine service field for more than 50 years. He also worked for 10 years in the Kansas Legislature. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and saw action in the European and Pacific theaters. He was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Sneedville, Tenn., the son of Charles and Laura Lucas Hopkins. He was raised in Sneedville, Tenn., and had lived in Topeka since 1943. He was a member of Grace Bible Church. He married Mary MacArthur on Nov. 18, 1944, in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Gary Hopkins, Keller, Texas, Mike Hopkins, Topeka, and Mark Hopkins, Linwood; a daughter, Becky Streeter, Topeka; three brothers, Stanley Hopkins, Hemlock, Ind., Eck Hopkins, Sneedville, Tenn., and Herb Hopkins, Summitville, Ind.; and seven grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Alta Vista Cemetery in Alta Vista. Mr. Hopkins will lie in state after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Bible Church or the American Heart Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
