    3. I am researching any and all Coffeys (all variants of spellings) in Hancock Co., TN. My ggggf was Caswell Coffey (1806 NC - 1882 Grainger Co., TN). In 1830 and 1840 Caswell was found living next to his father Bennett Coffey and they were in Hawkins Co., TN. In 1850 Caswell and Bennett were in Hancock Co., TN. Caswell possibly married up to 4 times. No marriage record has been found for any of the speculated wives. Caswell's oldest son is said to be William Carroll Coffey, born c 1831, but even William Carroll Coffey's descendents cannot prove this to be true. Caswell's next children were Sarah 1838-1904, Joel 1840-1912, Rebecca 1842-1912, Orrena 1843-1918, and my own gggf Thomas Nelson Coffey 1849-1917. My personal family oral history states that Thomas Nelson Coffey's mother was a Jordan. She is said to have died when he was approximately a week old. Jordan is the other surname I am researching. I have found many Jordans but none yet which I can isolate as being a woman old enough to have had children in 1838 through 1843. At this time I do not know if Sarah, Joel, Rebecca and Orrena are Thomas Nelson Coffey's half or full siblings. I have found Jordan women who could have had children in 1849. Any clues or hints will be appreciated. Sheri Kelly bluemoonrotts@yahoo.com --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Shopping - with improved product search
