Debra: Would you know of, or have information on the John Webb whose land abutted the land of William T. Hicks in 1873? This land was in the 11th Civil District of Hawkins Co., TN and there was also Rogers and William Jenkins whose lands were used as boundry guidelines when William dispersed his land in his will. The land mentioned was to go to John Hicks, son of William. This William T. Hicks also had sons William I. Hicks, Jesse Hicks, and James Hicks, and daughters Nancy, Elizabeth, Lizan, and Kitty. None of the daughters had their last names mentioned so I speculate they were married. John Hicks got the land, all his siblings received a dollar each. No wife was named, so this William T. Hicks was a widower. I have had Coffey ancestors living in Hawkins Co., TN and when Hancock was formed, they were annexed into Hancock. It appears the above Hicks family remained in Hawkins Co., TN.
