Here is a note copied from another web site: Here is Lon's Obituary that I found on the Morristown Tribune web-site: REED, LON EARL, age 69, of Sneedville, went to be with the Lord 3 p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2002, at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, after a courageous battle with pneumonia. He was saved at a young age and became a member of Swan Creek Primitive Baptist Church. He was baptized by Elder Hobart Hall. He was a decorated, retired Navy veteran of the Korean War. Daddy fought all his life with war related illnesses. His fight is now over, he went home. We, the family, will miss him so much. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Lewis and Hattie Dodson Reed; brothers, Henry Lee, Kermit, and Dr. Fred W. Reed; sister, Jewell Dean Reed. He is survived by: loving wife, Maxine Mathis Reed of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery Lon Earl and Nicole Cantwell Reed; daughter and son-in-law, Debra Reed and Donald Michael Fannon; granddaughters, Hannah Elise and Caitlin McKenzie Reed; sisters, Ruth Yount, all of Sneedville, Sarah Trent of Kingsport; brother, Clyde M. Reed of Kingsport; several nephews, nieces, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Swan Creek Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Walter Willis and Elder Porter Carroll officiating. Interment in Reed Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at McNeil Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Bobby Mathis, Jason Mathis, Tony Mathis, Carl Reed, Johnny Earl Reed and Larry Yount.
