Harbottle, 28 Feb. 1675; Abiel, b. 23 Dec bapt. 4 Jan. 1680; Jonathan, b. 11 Nov. 1682; and Samuel, bapt. 12 Apr. 1685; but I kn. not his w. and suspect, that be liv. over the line of the town, for the town rec. has not one of these b. He rem. to Framingham, then pt. of Sudbury, a. 1695, was constable 1700, selectman 1701, and d. bef. 1710. Mary, d. of John Alcock, had Joshua, bapt. 7 Mar. 1675; Dorothy, 8 June 1679; George, 27 Mar. 1681; John, 22 Apr. 1683, d. soon; Elizabeth b. 2 Mar. 1684, d. soon; John, again, 3, bapt. 8 Feb. 1685, d. at four mos.; and Samuel, 9, bapt. 11 Apr. 1686. He was a merch. purch. of Sir William Berkeley, lands at Roanoke in Virg. wh. he sold 1677, and d. 23 Sept. 1690. His wid. d. 9 Oct. 1700. Dorothy, m. Rev. Dudley Woodbridge, first min. of Simsbury, and, also, his successor, Rev. Timothy Woodbridge. SAMUEL, Springfield, freem. 1690. THOMAS, Roxbury, came, 1630, in the fleet with Winthrop brot. w. Elizabeth and two ch. Thomas, and John, req. adm. 19 Oct. had Samuel, b. in Oct. bapt. that yr. at Dorchester, bef. the ch. at R. was gather. and was freem. 18 May foll. had Abel, fourth s. b. Oct. 1633; Decline, the first d. b. Apr. 1637, wh. m. 7 Dec. 1666, Stephen Smith; and Benjamin, the sixth ch. Oct. 1639, d. soon, as did his mo. both bur. on 28 Nov. Barry calls this last ch. of Elizabeth Caleb; but the ch. rec. is copious, and explicit to the contra. The town rec. said Benjamin, b. 27 Nov. but a modern hand eras. that, and wrongful. ins. Caleb. Such violat. of the vestal purity of rec. is less rare than might be expect. He m. 16 July 1640, Dorothy Harbottle, "a godly sis. of the ch." had Caleb, b. 9 Apr. 1641; Joshua, 27, bapt. 28 Nov. 1642; Mary, bapt. 29 Sept. 1644; and Abiel, 2 Aug. 1646. The f. d. 28 Mar. preced. and apostle Eliot notes [[vol. 3, p. 48]] (on the bapt.) his "not long afore leav. his childr. to the Lord to be their f." and his wid. m. 2 Feb. 1652, Thomas Hawley.
