Hi everyone, I am seeking info on several "lost" family members last seen in Hancock county. In the 1860 census, my Carpenter family was intact, bus somehow between 1860 and 1867 the wife Edy/Allie dies and I also lost track of the daughters Mary M., Cornelia, and maragaret. Ensley is found in Whitley with a new wife and 3 yr old daughter in the 1870 census. Here's the 1860 census: Carpenter, Ensly (40) Sadler Edy (37) Mary (17) Wm. J (15) Jeremiah (11) Cornelia (7) Margaret (4) Henry ( 1 month) Can anyone help? Was there a newpaper around this time in Sneedville? I'm also wondering if perhaps Edy wasn't an native american since data on her is so impossible to find. Were there marriage records in Hancock around 1839?
