From: The Knoxville News-Sentinel, Knoxville, Tennessee, Wednesday, January 8, 2002. GIVENS, RAY CARLOS - age 68, of Knoxville, passed away Monday, January 6, 2003, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was a member of Cedar Flat Missionary Baptist Church, and was a Veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U. S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Leona Givens; brother, Earl Givens, and sisters, Ruth Jones and Madeline Smith. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, David Ray and Becky Givens of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandsons, Jacob and Jared Givens of Knoxville; former wife, Charlene Givens of Knoxville; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Dorothy Givens of Finksburg, Md. Special friends, Reece and Wanda Jefferson, Doll Green, Leon and Lynn Leucicu of the L & L Sweet Home Care, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2003, at the McNeil Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Porter Carroll officiating. Interment in the Harrrison Burke Cemetery.
