Hello, Many of my cousins on my website are kin to those two families. I will send you an invitation so you can go there! It is a private site. Debra
I am looking for the parents of Mary Carpenter born Jan 1878 and married John Sampson Williams about 1897. They had three children Elisha, Nellie, and Lydia. Mary died before 1915 as did her daughter Nellie. Lydia married a Mr. Baker and had twin boys--and perhaps another child before she died also very young--about 1930. We don't know what happened to her children either. Any help appreciated. V Shaw

In that box are the links....just click on the red underlined words, those are the links. The round blue dots are bullets and are just there for Pretties:) All the links work and there is alot to see. The Query board is up also. I will be adding some more photos today. There is also a family file that was submitted by Mr. William E. Smith on his Hopkins family from Hancock County. It is large file and is on three separate pages. The page is there and does work the box does take a second to load so please be patient with it. Carol

Hi again, Just wanted to let everyone know that there are some new additons to the Hancock County website http://www.tngenweb.org/hancock/index.htm Some more photos were submitted by Sherie Corbett A few interesting articles and statistics I will be adding more of the 1891 Voters list as I have time. Good Afternoon Mayes Researchers: While going through some records I have come to realize I may have an error in my data entry and need to ask for someone to answer a few questions. I have a James Bridges who married Susannah, daughter of William Mayes and Sarah Hunter Mayes. This marriage was 02/24/1798 in Grainger Co., TN. I have a William Smith Mayes, son of Sherrod, who married Susannah Mayes Bridges, daugher of the above Willima and Sarah Mayes. This marriage was 08/31/1800 in Grainger Co., TN. I have the sources of the marriages for Bridges and Mayes as Tennessee Vital Records, Marriages but did not note where. For the Mayes and Mayes marriage I have the Ancestry CD of Tennessee Vital Records, Marriages. Would anyone know which marriage date is correct, and if there were any children born when Susannah was married to James Bridges? IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE SEARCHING THE MAXEY's in this county? Ellen MAXEY-DOWNUM
Carol thank you so much for all your hard work. I really appreciate it and know that others do too. Do you know of a site on the internet, or maybe something in a book somewhere that shows the different districts in Hancock. Seems like they are always talking about them and I know they have changed some over the years. I would love to know where they were in the first census, 1850, the exact locations I mean, and when they changed if they have. Thanks, Penny Ferguson
I have been trying to get on the Hancock County,TN. web page all day. Is it down? The person over it says go to the bottom of page and click on links, but there aren't any links to click on. I have always been able to get on Hancock County webpage. Barbara

Good morning, I apologize if this message goes through twice, I am having email trouble I promise I won't bombard everyones emails everyday with new additons to the website but since nothing had been done with it for awhile I thought I would let everyone know about the progress. http://www.tngenweb.org/hancock/index.htm First I want to Thank all the people who emailed me congratulations yesterday and this morning, I know most of you are on this list and I havent had time to email everyone personally but wanted to say "Thank You" . Second the additions to the site since yesterday are a couple of photos that were submitted. a website called Places Named, I have it linked to Hancock but you can search any county. If you put in the county it will bring up every state that has a county by that name, the states are in alphabetical order, so if you scroll down to TN you will see Hancock County. This site gives most of the cities and towns within that county and is great for people who have never lived or visited the county they are researching. Also another site called Genealogy Quest which has different stuff but has a wonderful glossary of old diseases which will help with the 1860 Mortality schedules that I put up on the site yesterday. Well I think that is it for right now. Hope you enjoy, Carol Hancock County TN, TNGenWeb County Coordinator http://www.tngenweb.org/hancock/ Owner of "Looking Back " Newsletter, http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~lookingback/welcomepage.htm
