I'm related to Livesay, Davis, Baldwin, Fleenor, Lamb, Mitchell, Pridemore, Testerman, Trent, Johnson, and more. I know the names above had ties to the Kyles Ford area, and many are buried in the Davis Cemetery near Kyles Ford. I'm looking in particular for any info on the ELEGATE family. I believe they were Hawkins County, however. Betty Elegate b 1875 was my ggrandmother. I'd be happy to exchange any info I have. I'm currently indexing a rather large genealogy book, and in a couple of weeks I'll probably be done with it, and have access to much more date. Sandra Grabosky Seattle, WA
I'd be interested in exchanging information with anyone who researches Kyles Ford families. I'm related to the Wallen, Tignor, Bledsoe, Baker, Willis, Hurd, Johnson, Fleenor, Waddell, Brotherton families and others from that area, including Blackwater, VA. Joe E. Wallen Johnson City, TN
Hi, Hopefully the server is up to stay for awhile:) This list is very quiet, especially this month but I know there seems to be a few people on here. I check this list and the query board at the Hancock County site to see what information people are looking and while I dont have time to do look-ups or do research for others if I see a name that looks familiar to me I usually try to email the person to see if it is info they can use. So remember to post information you are looking for and be specific with names, places and dates, if known, so that way someone might be able to help, whether it is me or someone else. I have thought about starting a Yahoo Group for Hancock County as Yahoo would have a chat room where I thought one night a week we could get on and chat and help each other with research, Let me know what you think, Carol Turner Hancock County TN, TNGenWeb County Coordinator http://www.tngenweb.org/hancock/ Johnson County, TN, TNGenWeb County Coordinator http://www.tngenweb.org/johnson/ Owner of "Looking Back " Newsletter, http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~lookingback/welcomepage.htm

Does anyone on these lists have access to the Mortality census for 1850? I would like a lookup for any Coffey/Coffee/Coffie, etc death, female if any are located. The death would have occured in Hawkins or Hancock Co., TN to the best of my knowledge but could have been reported elsewhere. Hi to all, Just wanted to let everyone know that the October issue of "Looking Back" is up. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~lookingback/welcomepage.htm There are additions to the Census images and indexes as well some county tidbits. I have also added to the Hancock County deed index, surnames D-H, I will be adding more next month. October is Family History Month, so there is a little information there as to how to preserve your research and if you look at Septembers Archive there is information on organizing your paper copies. Hope you find something of interest, Carol Turner Hancock County TN, TNGenWeb County Coordinator http://www.tngenweb.org/hancock/ Johnson County, TN, TNGenWeb County Coordinator http://www.tngenweb.org/johnson/ Owner of "Looking Back " Newsletter, http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~lookingback/welcomepage.htm
Hi to all, The Hancock County Genweb site has been updated with some really nice family files. http://www.tngenweb.org/hancock There are also some new photos I will be adding more over the next few days. Also remember that October is Family History Month, so if you have been putting off organizing your family data, this month would be a great time to start getting it all put together :) Carol Turner Hancock County TN, TNGenWeb County Coordinator http://www.tngenweb.org/hancock/ Johnson County, TN, TNGenWeb County Coordinator http://www.tngenweb.org/johnson/ Owner of "Looking Back " Newsletter, http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~lookingback/welcomepage.htm

Good Morning, Listers: Would anyone know where in the Rogersville PO area, 1880 census, that district 2 ended and district 11 began? A specific area is what I am needing. While reviewing the 1880 Hawkins Co., TN census I saw where the two districts were one after another, and my ancestors began 12 households after the district changed. Also is anyone researching the Ellkins and Jenkins lines of Hawkins Co., TN before 1900? Respectfully Sheri Kelly bluemoonrotts@yahoo.com --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? I have been working on my Winstead families, trying to get me a book together for myself. I have ran into, or should I say confused which family is right. This is what I have for Bishop Greene: This information some of which came from Martha Winstead. I have Bishop Greene married to Lillie Winstead, daughter of Thomas Winstead and Rhoda Singleton, and their children; Lyda, Tyler, Lillie Victoria, Joseph, Harrison, Rody, Clay, Burket and Eva Winstead. I also have Bishop Greene married to Lilly Winstead, daughter of Nancy Jane Helton and Henry Willow Winstead with the same children. Henry and Nancy are my 2nd great-grandparents. Does anyone have information on Bishop Greene so I can get the correct families right. Any help will be appreciated. Barbara

Geography has never been my strong point so I am hoping that someone can answer a couple of questions for me.One of my ancestors appears in the 1850 Hancock census as being born in NC. I know that Washington County,NC became Washington Co,TN, so is it possible that the boundries of the counties moved instead of my ancestorand that TN came to him instead ? He was living in the Panther Creek area at the time. Is Panther Creek anywhere near present day Tazewell,TN? digging for Haley, Burke and Goin too. http://home.bellsouth.net/P/PWP-tnhaley
