Hello everyone! My name is Martha Davis and I am a 29 year old telephone secretary/writer wanna be currently living in Atlanta, Georgia. During recent events, I have become visibly aware of how small my family as become - as my mother says "almost extinct" - and I feel a longing to learn more about where I came from and find the missing family that has slipped away from contact for various reasons. Since I've never been a geneologist before, I looked to the internet to find out how to get started. Instruction #1 - start with your immediate family. Get all you can from them. Just my luck! I will have to find my immediate family before I can ask anything...(Hee Hee) My mother, Julianne Ledford, married Carroll Jacob Davis in Hamilton, County (Chattanooga) in 1971. She was 18 and he was 26. My mother remembers he had been married twice before and I have two older half-sisters and a half-brother. The brother is about 2 years older than me and his name is Jeff. (My mother used to babysit him when she was pregnant with me and believes his biological mother is named Cynthia.) I was born in August 1972 and my parents divorced three months later. Mom moved to Atlanta in search of work and slowly lost contact with "C.J." Davis. She remarried a few years later and I became the cutest, blondest new member of my stepfather's (John Owens) family. (which has a strong Cherokee Indian background). I am going through the process of learning more about my mother's and my stepfather's past (as I am just as much as member of that family as any "blood" kin) but I would love to find those missing brothers and sisters from the Davis family...to start learning more about my biological family as well.
