I am still trying to locate anyone who has come across a SMITH Family who might have a son by the name of James M or Middleton SMITH, and possible a second son by the name of Littleton SMITH in TN, GA. I have not given up, but after 6 years and not a single clue, I am beginning to wonder if I will ever find the parents of James M. SMITH, b. 1809 in TN, most likely in the Walker Co., GA area, but there is no proof of this. He was living in Hamilton Co., TN in 1830 married, no children in the household. Next to him was a Charles SMITH age 50 to 59 -- father????. By 1850 James. M. SMITH is living in Lookout Mountain in Walker Co., GA with his wife Susan (WALLEN) and children, William, Sally, Mary, Priscilla, Campbell, Nancy, Caroline Catherine, Martha, Tennessee. By 1860 this family is in Randolph Co., AR, A little after the 1860 Census Susan must have died, maybe in childbirth to a son Henry, because James M. is now going by Middleton and is married to Mary C. possibly MORRIS and a child Henry is in the family right age for the first marriage and a second son Gilphy SMITH, most likely child of second marriage.
