Can anyone on this list give me information on the history of the old Oak Hill School? It was located in the Highway 58 area below Harrison, almost across from where the fire hall is now. I'm not sure exactly when the school began, but I assume it closed just prior to 1939 when Harrison Elementary opened. My grandmother and several other family members attended Oak Hill in the early 1920's. I contacted the Hamilton County Schools office where the records are kept, and they could not help me with information on this particular school, nor were records on my grandmother available. I would also appreciate any information on Avondale School. The building still stands in East Chattanooga, but I believe it is now used for the Head Start program. My grandfather attended this school probably in the early 1920's. Again, no information on the school or records on my grandfather were available. Thank you. Susan Kendall SusieQ1160@aol.com
