    1. [TNHAMILT] Chattanooga-Hamilton Lib email address needed
    2. Bushy Hartman
    3. Hi everyone, I have been trying to get a copy of an article that my greatgrandmother was in that may contain valuable genealogy information. I have tried sending an email to the Chattanooga-Hamilton Libary from their web page. It was returned since I don't have an actual name of someone working there to put in the address. Does anyone have an email address to write to for that Lib. I know I can call but I am out of state and that would be a long distance call during prime time. I just need an email address that works for the library. Also have written the newpaper and their response is below. I am pretty sure she had the interview with the paper when she turned 100 years old on July 31, 1973. I feel confident it is at least within that month. If there is anyone out there who has a SUPER heart of gold I sure would appreciate a look up. I would be more than willing to pay. Also I have written before about finding the school names of when my father lived there from 1922-1940 (?). I realized I could use my computers map program to put in the address which gave me the zip codes. Now with the suggestion Jack in TN sent to me, I will contact the school system and see if they have archives. Once I find out I will let everyone know what I have found. Also, if I found out if you know what Insurance Co. your family used and a policy number they will send you the file on the person. They used insurance policies on delayed birth certificates to verify age. Thanks for any help you can provide it is so greatfully appreciated. You might try the Hamilton County Bicentennial Library at (423) 757-5310 or 1001 Broad St., Chattanooga, TN 37401. I am not sure how much research they will do for you. If you don't have any luck with them, please feel free to contact us again in mid-October and we will see what we can do. Your time span (1970-1973) is pretty broad considering if we have nothing in a clip file, that is microfilm work. We have a staff of 1 and 1/2 which does not allow us the luxury of those types of searches. 3. Hi, Is anyone on here that lives locally? I am trying to find out what schools in the St. Elmo area of Chattanooga were in operation up to 1940? I am trying to see if there are records from when my father went to school here. In 1922 his parents lived at 304 Zieglar/Ziglar Street and at least his mother lived on Bedford ST in 1937. Does anyone know if the schools retained their records in this area and how far back? Thanks so much Bushy Hartman mihartman@infoave.net

    3. Hello all, I am new to the list, I am looking for anyone connected to my great grandmother: Lenora B. PURVIS b. 31 Jul 1873 FL; d. 15 Nov 1974 (yes 101years old)Chatta. TN married:(1) Andrew MIXON; (2) ____ PURVIS children: Laura Louise (COX)MIXON b. 27 May 1899 Bluff Springs, FL Thelma PURVIS Ann PURVIS Lenora lived on Bedford St and across the road Ann her daughter lived. My grandmother Laura lived there for a time in 1937 from what her SS app says. Lenora worked till she was 93 serving food to coal miners. There was a large write up in the paper about 1974 if I am remembering correctly (I am trying to get the paper to send me a copy)about Lenora's life. She is buried in Chattanooga Memorial Park cemetery from her death certificate but I haven't located it yet online (thank you to those working so hard for those of us from out of state) possibly one of the ones not completed yet. I have written to the funeral home and I am waiting for their answer. Lenora's parents were Lawrence S. BROWDER & Matilda ROLLO if there are any other folks of these lines in the area after 1899 I sure would like to hear from you there could be a connection if they travelled from northern Florida as a group. Also, I am trying to figure out why my grandfather Russell Mynatt COX travelled from Anderson County, TN to Chattanooga to meet my grandmother to marry her. Was there ever a military base nearby in the early 1900's or was there already a branch of the COX'S down in Chattanooga that my grandfather was visiting. Of course it could be only the prettiest of girls lived in Chattanooga. I don't think my Aunt Thelma married since she was living with my great grandmother until she died. I do not recall my Aunt Ann's married name in order to locate my cousins who were living there in 1974 when I stayed the summer. Is there way to do a reverse lookup on addresses? I have the house number and street but no name. I would like to send a quiery to the residents. Thanks so much and hope I hear from someone. Bushy Hartman mihartman@infoave.net

    3. In reply to "Donna Fitzgerald" <dbfitz@bellsouth.net> message: I have a George Washington Smith born abt. 1851 who married Emily Rebecca Barker born 1855 and married December 14, 1873 in Knox Co., TN. Could this George be related to yours? I don't have anything on George but I have information on Emily's family. I have Jessie Monroe Brown's father listed as John Brown, Jr. with a wife Maria. Their children are: John, Jane, Jame H., William R., Thomas, Mary, and Jessie Monroe. John Brown, Jr.'s father is John Gordon Brown married to Elizabeth. I have their children as: John, Jr., William R. Elizabeth Carr, and Franklin. John Gordon Brown's father was Jacob Brown, Major (in Rev. War ) born December 04, 1733, Augusta, VA. He married Ruth Gordon abt 1760. Their children were: Benjamin Brown, Jacob Brown, Jr., Colonel, Thomas, John Gordon, and a "possible" son named Berryman Brown. According to my notes, some of this information was shared with me by Jim Patrick. That is all I have on this family. Sorry I can't help you more than what is above. Pat

Elizabeth Caroline died 30 August 1892, about 3 months after Silas (my grandfather) was born. I know of 2 children (Elizabeth Caroline's) that died as infants - David and Arthur. I don't know of a third - Sarah's or Elizabeth's.
