My 3rd great aunt is/was Clara "Kittie" Reynolds Nichols. She was married to a Henry Nichols. They lived in Chattanooga circa 1900-1937 where she was a practicing physician. Would like to find whatever i can regarding these two elusive ancestors. Any help/suggestions much appreciated. Thanks. Mary

Tim, you should join the TN-Cemeteries Mailing List. I bet there is someone on it that will help you. Hopefully, this won't be too ignorant. I have 2 questions: Is their a site to go to that you can type in a surname and it will tell you what counties to check the census for? If I've already checked the county I think they lived in with no luck, I'm hoping not to check every county!! Also, just found my grandfather's occupation listed as "Supervision of Materials, Knox County" during the late 1930's. Any ideas what that could mean? Thanks. Teri
Does anyone have in their Hamilton Co., TN database a marriage of a Mary Stout or a Sarah Stout. It is unknown who they married. Mary was 19 in 1850 and Sarah was 14 in 1850. Kathleen Burnett
Hello - I am new to the list and am looking for information on the Lemuel and Didama McBee family. Lemuel was born about 1814 in Tennessee. Didama was born about 1820. They had the following children: William, Martha, Didama, John, Mary, Elizabeth, Lemuel, Francis and Joann. This family lived in Hamilton county, Tennessee in 1860 and probably in 1850. I would appreciate anyone's help here. Thank you - Robin
Lasadia Stout married a man with the last name of Henry before 1853 in Hamilton Co., TN. They had two children, Kanico J. and Hannah J. This husband with the surname Henry must have died, and she must have re-married a man with the last name of Miller because by 1860 she also has a child by the name of Henry Francis (Frank) Miller. If you know of a Lasadia Stout Miller or Henry I would love to hear from you. Kathleen Burnett
I would like to connect with anyone who is researching a Humes or Stout line in Hamilton Co., TN. John Humes married Elizabeth Stout about 1847 in Hamilton Co., TN. They had one child that I know of, Samuel Humes born 1851. If you know of this family I would like to hear from you. Kathleen Burnett
I would like to connect with anyone who is researching a Bean or Stout line in Hamilton Co., TN. William Hamilton Bean married Martha Stout in Hamilton Co., TN about 1853. They were the parents of two children, Sarah Louise and James A. William Hamilton Bean died 1909 and Martha Stout Bean died 1920 in Daisy, Hamilton Co., TN. Both are buried in the Poe Cemetery. If you know of this family I would love to hear from you. Kathleen Burnett
Greenwood Cemetery listings are now finished and on-line. http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnhamilt/cemetery.htm I've done an update of the first 100 plus records of Forest Hills and included a note regarding that. http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnhamilt/frsthill.htm A new URL regarding the National Military Cemetery has been brought to my attention and added to the main Hamilton County page. It is a more complete and up to date listing: http://www.interment.net/data/us/tn/hamilton/chattanat/index.htm Tim
Phebe, This could be a different IGOU family, I don't know - I'm not an IGOU descendant. I do know that there is still an Igou Gap Road about 2 minutes from the Westview Cemetery. I may get this wrong, but I believe that written into the deed (or something) of the land where the school exists (across the road), it is stated that if the school ever ceases to exist, then the land is to go to the IGOU heirs. The old school was built in the early 1900's, I believe around 1910 - the new Westview Elementary was finished August 2000. My son goes to school there. The Lutherans were trying to buy the Church building last year or so, but it all fell through all partly because of the IGOU heir clause. I corresponded once with a person related to these Igou's, but I have seemed to have lost the email. Anyway, see below: http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnhamilt/westview.htm "West View Cemetery is five miles southwest of Apison. Land was given by MONROE IGOU for both church and cemetery. There are approximately three hundred graves. It was established in 1830. Rev J W Ramsey and wife are buried here." and: Igou, Mary J - Nov 10, 1818 - Feb 14, 1897 -'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.' Hi, Donna and David. I took Donna's suggestion and looked for your HOLMES family in the 1860 Catoosa census, David. Sorry, but they were not listed. I don't have the Catoosa 1850. David, I didn't find this family in the 1850 or 1860 Hamilton Co., TN census. They are probably listed in the Catoosa Co., GA censuses. BTW, Westview Cemetery is located on East Brainerd Road next to the (now called) Westview Cumberland Presbyterian Church across from the newly built Westview Elementary School. (If anyone on the list attended there - the old building is completely gone.) All the land for the church and school was donated by the IGOU family long ago. Hope this helps, Donna F. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "bfc101" <bfc101@email.msn.com> > To: <TNHAMILT-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Tuesday, October 17, 2000 10:36 AM > Subject: [TNHAMILT] Holmes connection > > > > I am looking for information on the Holmes family who lived in the > West View area off East Brainerd Road and Ringgold in Catoosa County, > Georgia.
