Wann Funeral home is still in business. It's located at 4000 Tennessee Avenue in Saint Elmo at the foot of Lookout Mountain. In the 1940's it was Wann - Chapman Funeral Home located at 541 McCallie Avenue in Highland Park. Hi List, Wow !! How nice it was to get so many replies to my query about Wanns Funeral Home. I am glad to find out that they are still in business. I can call them on Monday to see if they have anything on my Stratton's. Some of you told me that Wanns is at St. Elmo's. I had an Uncle that used to live right at the foot of Lookout Mtn. just down from the incline. I remember riding it up to the top and how scary I thought it was looking back down the mountain. I asked the conductor ( is that what he's called?) if it had ever failed and his reply was "Never on a Tuesday". I didn't know that area was called St. Elmo's. Thank you all for telling me this. It brought back some very happy memories for me. Patty Brock
Hi List, Has anyone ever heard of a Wann's funeral home? This would have been in business during the 1920's and maybe even today although I did a search for it and didn't find anything. Thanks for any help. Patty Brock

I am looking for information on my grandmother's Mary Margarette Hix Privette 1/30/1903 - 5/83 and my grandfather Roy Clayton Privette. They lived most of their life in Chattanooga, Tn. They had three daughters; Betty, Mary and Theresa. I believe Mattie's mothers name was Nola, 7th day of April is her birthday. And I know for sure she had a brother named Warner who lived on and off with them. The below information is taken from old letters: Her Grandpa Hix was a judge in Ringgold, Ohio. Her Uncle Harrie Hix never married. Worked at the post office in Chattanooga. She had a Aunt Lizzie. Her oldest brother was Charles Wesley, retired from Standard Life Ins. Her sister was Nellie Ruth Childress. Thanks for any help! Tami Longino

You can see the pages online for yourself, link is below. Always better to do the lookup yourself and when you find them, look two pages before and two pages afterward as well to see if you see married daughters or sisters and other collateral families. Families moved as groups, son-in-laws, church members etc... lots of reasons but always go back and compare to other names that were close by to see if there are others that moved with them and then find the link. If you loose track of someone, search for the neighbors, in-laws, names that were close by in the census. Off the soapbox, NEXT. 1860 census images online from S-K at Rootsweb for Hamilton Co TN http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/tn/hamilton/census/1860/0000read.htm Ron McCandless ReefComber@aol.com wrote: > > Hi, > > Does anyone have a copy of the 1860 census that could look up Lewis Lovelady? > > Thank you, > Linda > > ==== TNHAMILT Mailing List ==== > Search the list archives: > http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl - put TNHAMILT for > the name of the list > > ============================== > Ancestry.com Genealogical Databases > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/rwlist2.asp > Search over 2500 databases with one easy query!
