I have a mystery. George Watson Jones was born in TN in 1856 in Greene Cty to Elliott Jones & Amy Gooden. He is still with his parents in the 1880 census. He died May 22 1899 and is buried (or memorialized) at Carter's Station. his grave stone hints at some sort od tragic death, at least in his mother's opinion (she presumable bought the stone). George Washington Jones has the same birth year and county, as well as the same death year. He is buried (or memorialized) at Providence/Clear Springs in Grene Cty. He was married to America Jane Jones, from Kentucky, as were her parents. His death was tragic as well. There is a Jones family story that all the older folks told me (people that knew George & America personally) that George alienated his parents by marrying America Jane, who was part Cherokee. I'm wondering how I can unravel this. Were the two men the same person? I found nothi! > ng on George Washington in a one day search of the Greene County Historical Society in 2009. Neither did I find anything of George Watson. Anybody have any ideas?? > > Important Note: > The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
