Nineteenth century newspapers were very chatty, often contained multiple columns devoted to the social life of the community. Generally one column was for folks who lived in town and other columns for rural neighborhoods. In addition, there was the regular news which could disclose aspects of each man's life and of course obituaries. Sometimes the microfilm copies of papers can be obtain through interlibrary loan. Otherwise, you will have to return to Tennessee Historical Society or local library to go through them. Good luck.
