This came from one of the lists I belong to. Patti I've learned that some very important records were lost. Granted they're not publicly available, but... The Dept of Children's Services in Nashville is in one of the downtown office buildings affected. ALL closed adoption files were stored in the basement. In theory, there is a Court file locally that contains pleadings entered for each adoption. However, the DCS files contain all reports, correspondence, photographs, and miscellaneous stuff that was kept on each child. These aren't just "new" adoptions. DCS has files that go back decades. I feel for people who are hunting answers.
