Teresa There's the library & courthouse in Greeneville of course, but you might also check out them in Washington county since it was the parent county of Greene County. You don't say how long you'll be in town, but the McClung library in Knoxville is great & the staff is terrific. Knoxville was the capital of TN prior to Nashville and there are records there as well. If you have time check them out on the Internet to get some ideas of things you may specifically want to look for. Get maps & directions to the cemeteries as well. There is President Andrew Johnson's museum & home you may also like to visit, it's nice & there isn't a charge to visit. Have a safe trip Patti > I am planning a trip to Greene Co.,TN in mid July. I would appreciate any tips regarding libraries or other repositories for Greene and adjoining Hawkins Co. Are there any unusual or extended operating hours for the library or court house? Are there any local book stores that offer area history books/historical maps? Is there a historical or genealogical society that might have books for sale? > > Thanks, and any suggestions will be appreciated, > Teresa
