(nee Johnston) Tafer, wife of Kenneth E. Tafer, 7th generation decendant of the Rev. Witherspoon Doak's via his first daughter. The story goes that Doak was out preaching (he road a horse to nearby settlers)and the Indians came when his wife was at the cabin with their first daughter. The baby lay sleeping. The dogs warned Doak's wife and she took the sleeping baby and hid in the woods while the Indians ransaked the cabin. The baby did not awaken.
