I've found him from that census on and his birth year is always 1867 to 1870. His tombstone says dob 07-31-1868. I don't think the one in Carter Co. is him because that might be too old. Also, my Samuel spent his life as a farmer. I will research this more though just to make sure. You never know! I was told once that my Samuel's father was David A Taylor (b.1830) who was married to Elizabeth Jane (coincidentally!) (b. 1834) but I have a 1880 census for them in Green Co. This information was based on the memory of a living relative who knew that the person they were researching (Andrew Taylor, David A Taylor's son)had a brother named Samuel D. Taylor, born about 1867/1868. However, I can't find anything in the records to support this. I'm totally at a loss how my Samuel can just disappear (or rather, fail to appear) until 1889 when he married his wife Bettie (b. 1870) in Jonesborough TN. It's proving to be quite the challenge. Thanks so much for your help! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
