Surnames: Davis Babb Dodd McCurry Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ihB.2ACI/4276 Message Board Post: I'm wondering if anyone has any info on the names of those who died @ the Battle of Blue Springs. I'm looking for 2 people in particular who may have died there. Fields Davis b. 1810 and his son(I think) Martin V. Davis b. 1842. Fields' brother John was described as a "Confederate irregular"(I guess he was a guerilla fighter.). who was killed along with his son Thomas C. Davis in a "raid" by Union troops on their home on Roaring Spring in 1864. This leads me to believe that Fields and Martin may also have been Confederate soldiers too. They may have either been killed in the "raid" on John's home. (Fields lived on the same land as John I'm guessing because they both inherited the same land from their father Jesse). or they were killed @ the Battle of Blue Springs because niether Martin or Fields appear in any other Greene county census after 1860. I do know that Thomas and John are buried in Babb's Mill cemetery. Unfortunately I have no idea where Fields and Martin are buried. Are their any unmarked graves @ Babbs Mill cemetery or in the Babb family cemetery? John and Fields land bordered the lands of SETH and ABNER BABB, THOMAS DODD and others. One of Thomas' boys was married to a woman who's Grandmother's name was MCCURRY. Any info would be appreciated Thank you in advance!
