Steve was born October 5, 1946. in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Clarence and Jean Freshour. He was a long time resident of Oklahoma where he was in the publishing and printing business. He grew up attending Smithwood - Baptist Church,became a Christian and was baptized at age 9. He went to Smithwood School and graduated from Central High School in 1964. He attended UT until his education was interrupted by three years of military service during the Vietnam War. He was a 1st Lt. in the Army Corps of Engineers. He earned several medals including the Bronze Star. This experience affected his whole life. He loved nature; landscaping his yard was his greatest hobby. For several years he rescued stray dogs, finding homes for them and taking in six which he leaves behind. He volunteered at the Humane Society and zoo. He was very active in Veterans' organizations, helping veterans who were in need. He was preceded in death by grandparents Will and Lucy Freshour and Alva and Nell Frazier. He is survived by his parents; his sister and brother-in 1w Dr. Bill and Donna Hagewood; nephews, Stephen and Andrew Hagewood and their families; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and special friends Jenene Bi! anchini and Steve Prather. Two memorial services were held in Tulsa on April 8 and 9. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 pm Thursday, Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Dr. Chailes Eari, Dr. Bill Hagewood and ReL Michael Bundon presiding. Family and friends will meet Friday at Lenoir City Cemetery, Lenoir City, Tennessee, for an 11 a.m. interment service. Military Honors will be provided by East Tennessee Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, April 12,2007.
