He is the son of James Henderson, who died in 1793. According to family records, James Henderson had a sister named Mary, but I do not have information on who she married. If she had married Thomas Crawford, that would explain why Samuel Henderson would name himself their nephew (Samuel's mother was a Sollars, not a Crawford).
