    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Tittsworth, Morgan, Duncan Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ihB.2ACI/3728.1.2 Message Board Post: Hey Shirley, It's so hard to keep these guys straight what with the names repeated so often and I don't have my info right in front of me. I moved about a year ago and most of my family research stuff is still in storage. I do remember though seeing something about Charlotte (Duncan) Tittsworth on the census as a widow about 1860 or 1870 in Jefferson Co Tn. I think she was the one who had a son named Isaac McClellan Tittsworth who became a Doctor. I also remember seeing some info where Martha (Morgan) Tittsworth versus Mary Jane Tittsworth (her daughter or stepdaughter???) for her inheritance on Thomas Tittsworth's will. This was if I remember correctly in 1855. In the Land Deed Records for Sullivan Co. Tn about 1826 or 1828 there was a deed where a Thomas Tittsworth was given Power-of-Attorney to jointly sell his and his brother Richard Tittsworths land in Sullivan County,Tn inherited, according to his last will and testament, from their deceased father Frederick Tittsworth. I don't know for sure which of the 2 Thomas's above (the one married to Charlotte or the one married to Martha) was Fred Tittsworth's son. But I do know that nearly everyone of the sons of the original Thomas Tittsworth of Sullivan Co., Tn (1731-1819) named a son after him. So for YEARS there were lots of Thomas T.'s floating around. In fact, the line I believe my husband descends from has four direct generations of Thomas Alexander Tittsworths: 1. Thomas A. Tittsworth 1731-1819 Sullivan Co. Tn 2. Thomas A. Tittsworth 1763-1853 Sullivan Co. Tn 3. Thomas A. Tittsworth 1801-April 1850 Sullivan Co. Tn 4. Thomas A. Tittsworth 1824-----------unknown. This one was still selling Tittsworth land in the late 1800's with his aunt Nancy Tittsworth (husband Jonathan on 1850 census of Sullivan Co. Tn could not locate any info on Jonathan or his family after that and only saw Nancy and Thomas on these land deeds) Believe my husbands ancestor Jesse Tittsworth 1795 Tn--1865 Illinois to be the son of the second Thomas A. Tittsworth in the list above. Just have not been able to prove it with any type of documentation. Oh Well happy hunting to all and always appreciate any additional info on the Tittsworth clan. Sarah Tittsworth
