John Sevier, Jr. was the third son of Sevier and his first wife, Sarah Hawkins. Re John Sevier, Jr's wives: This is what the Sevier Family History by Cora Bales Sevier and Nancy Sevier Madden has to say. Sophia Garoutte was his third wife. They were married 25 December 1809. It says she was probably born in Burlington Co., NJ. He may have met her when he was practicing law in Philadelphia for about 10 years. He returned to TN about 1811. They had ten children and the first child, John, was born about 1810 in NJ. There are pages in the back of the book on familes associated with the Seviers and the Garoutte family is included.
