Surnames: BROTHERTON Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ihB.2ACI/4223 Message Board Post: have Brothertons from TENN in our line, but NO ONE seems to be able to tie them into other Brotherton lines - hope someone will recognize the following names: in 1830 on BLOUNT CO CENSUS was a T BROTHERTON (probably Thomas) and his wife F (probably Francis) he was 32 years old I believe Living nearby was JOHN BROTHERTON - then on the 1850 Census in CRAWFORD CO MO we find T BROTHERTON again but John is not there...dont know where he went Living in the home with THOMAS is a WG aged 10, my g grandfather who was WG, or WASH Brotherton who was born about 1840,41 in MO......married an ELIZA ANN COLLINS We believe this Thomas of Blount & Crawford to be the same as the ages match - the CENSUS for CRAWFORD MO also stated that THOMAS was from TENN Thomas bought land in 1851 in Crawford county along with a JOSEPH FUNK and a SAMUEL WILLIAMS though we dont know the connection - but there must be one through marriage or they were great friends. There are Brothertons of Greene and Hawkins CO too but so far no one knows of a connection to ours - surely there must be one - Thomas and John could not just have appeared out of thin air If someone has any information PLEASE WRITE as we are so stuck and cannot go anywhere without more information.
