And possibly they are not aware that they are related, and may not even care. Someone on the internet has just suggested that we contact the 'city planner' to find out what the laws are regarding cemetery maintenance, saying that in some states if a cemetery is abandoned that some state or county organi- zation provides maintenance. This is not true in Greene Co. I talked to Don Miller at Cox library who tells me that there are many old cemeteries in the county that are neglected and there's no way to pay for maintenance. In some states there are groups who set up trust funds to provide maintenance, and on some countries, relatives are required to pay a fee for maintenance, but as the descen- dents die or move away, it becomes a big problem My relative, Buford Reynolds, did a find job of listing cemeteries in his book, and noted many unmarked and neglected graves. His work became the basis for many updated lists and this is how we know the Malones were buried in Malone graveyard on Casteel Farm. It is on Union Road near the Union Freeway Church and Union is off of Old Baileyton Road.
